Responsible Sports Community Grant

The Fall 2012 Responsible Sports Community Grant Program is open on September 1st, 2012.

How to Participate

To be eligible for the Responsible Sports Community Grant, your organization must be registered with Responsible Sports. You can find out if your organization is registered by searching our database. If you cannot find your youth sports organization, you must alert your administrator to register your youth sports organization to be eligible to earn one of the Community Grants.

Once your organization is registered, rally as many members and supporters to participate in the self-paced Responsible Sports Parenting and Responsible Coaching coursework. Then, pass the 10-question Responsible Sport Parenting quiz or Responsible Coaching quiz. Verify your email address to receive your certification and then credit your organization. Each credited certification brings your organization one step closer to earning a grant.

Who Can Earn a Community Grant

Any non-profit youth sports organization or educational athletic program can earn a Responsible Sports Community Grant, but an organization can only receive a grant once.
Fifteen youth sport organizations with the most credited certifications will earn a Responsible Sports Community Grant to help defray the many costs of running a successful youth sports program. But don't think that just because you are a small organization you cannot earn a grant. Organizations are split into three groups or divisions.
The divisions for the Responsible Sports Community Grant program are as follows:
  • Large organizations (100+ players)
Compete for one of five (5) $2,500 grants
  • Small organizations (under 100 players)
Compete for one of five (5) $2,500 grants
  • School/educational organizations (school athletic programs)
Compete for one of five (5) $2,500 grants
Organizations must be registered non-profit, traditional youth sport organizations or school athletic programs recognized by the governing bodies of their sport(s). Organizations must serve the community at large and must be open to the general public, without bias, prejudice or discrimination regarding participation. Liberty Mutual Insurance reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to exclude any youth sport organization deemed to be private and/or contrary to the goals of the Responsible Sports program. All grants applications are subject to verification.
Who cannot participate:
  • Previous recipients of a Responsible Sports Community Grant
  • Adult Sports Organizations (18 years of age and older)
  • For-profit Organizations
  • Any organization/entity that is exclusive in its membership and participation

Timing

Administrators can register their youth sports organization to participate in the Responsible Sports Community Grants at any time during an open grant period plus one month prior to the opening of the grant period.

Parents and coaches can also participate in the Responsible Sport Parenting and Coaching coursework at any time; however, certifications can only be credited to organizations during an active grant period. Two community grant periods happen each year.
