Walmart State Giving Program

State Giving Program

Important note for current grant recipients:

Walmart and its Foundation are no longer accepting receipts for its charitable grants in paper form. Please submit the required IRS receipt for the gift to your organization by email to charrec@wal-mart.com.
The receipt must include the amount of the grant as well as the statement that no goods or services were provided by your organization to Walmart in connection with the grant.
Through the State Giving Program, the Walmart Foundation supports organizations with programs that align with our mission to create opportunities so people can live better. The State Giving Program awards grants starting at $25,000 to nonprofit organizations that serve a particular state or region.
State Advisory Councils, made up of local Walmart associates represent each state, including Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico. The State Advisory Councils determine the needs within each state, review all eligible grant applications and make funding recommendations to the Foundation. Please review the guidelines and frequently asked questions (FAQs) before applying.

State Giving Program Guidelines

The Foundation has adopted four areas of focus: Education, Workforce Development/ Economic Opportunity, Environmental Sustainability and Health and Wellness. The Walmart Foundation encourages funding requests that align with its four areas of focus - programs that do not align with the four areas of focus will not be considered.
Current Focus on Hunger Relief - Walmart and the Walmart Foundation made a $2 billion commitment through 2015 to hunger relief efforts in the U.S. in order to support the record 1 in 6 Americans who do not know where their next meal is coming from. As hunger relief is now an integral part of the Foundation's work, the Foundation seeks to fund initiatives that integrate hunger relief into the main focus areas listed above.
